Q2 2026 Ecotrak Roadmap: Product Enhancements and What’s Next
Ecotrak recently announced product enhancement updates released in Q2 2026 and gave a preview of what’s under development. Continue reading for an overview of new and upcoming functionality.
Workflow Enhancements
Dashboard: Widget Builder
Set up dashboards for specific job titles, or build your own user-specific dashboard.
Create custom widgets for work order, invoice, or proposal modules. Configure table options, set up KPI trackers, or display custom notes with links to external resources.
Work Orders: Monthly Calendar
View work orders (WOs) in a monthly calendar view, rather than a list, to see how work is stacking up at your facilities over a time period.
Create Preventive Maintenance (PM) Off-Cycle
Enroll locations in an off-cycle work order, issuing a cadence of PMs as needed while still tracking schedules within the preventive maintenance program.
Reopen Work Orders and Invoices
Allow service providers to reopen a record if they prematurely mark a work order complete, and push invoices back to “pending approval” status if approved accidentally.
Invoices: Resubmit a ”Not Required” Invoice
If a service provider incorrectly selects approval “not required” on an invoice record, they can now resubmit the invoice record so it routes to the team for review.
Restart Approval Workflow
Admin users can address stuck approvals by restarting the approval workflow when needed. This creates more control over invoices and proposals in scenarios like a user is reassigned from a location, or a time limit has passed for a reviewer.
PMs at a Location
View PMs and update schedules at an individual location through the location’s PM tab, rather than jumping into the separate PM module.
Work Order: Customer Validation Before Invoice
For facilities where the team needs to better control repair work and validate completion from a service provider, turn on this setting. When a work order is marked completed, it will move to “completed pending review” status, and the invoice cannot be submitted until it is approved.
Assessments: Multiple Choice, Rating/Linear Scale
The assessment builder now includes more flexible ways to capture key facilities information during your inspections, including a true multiple choice, a rating system (stars), and a linear scale configuration (numbers).
Assessment questions can also include images, giving the assessment evaluator clear visual context about how something should look at the facility.
Technician Management
Internal Techs: Customer Teams
As your in-house technicians are part of your internal team, they need more functionality in your CMMS than a third-party vendor. The new company teams module within the provider network allows you to set up teams, assigning individuals or matching jobs. For example, a company maintenance team might have certain types of WOs assigned, or a company IT team may have all AV issues routed to them.
Trade Assignment: Auto Assign Teams and Jobs
Rather than only being able to assign work to a company, you can now route work orders to a company team and assign a work order down to an individual technician.
Auto-Assign Technician that Accepts Work Order
When a technician accepts a work order, they are automatically connected as the “technician assigned”, without manually updating status on the WO record.
Teams: Assigned to Me & New WO Notification
A new notification type can alert the members of a company team when a new work order is assigned.
A company technician can also view work orders “assigned to me” as a list on both web and mobile, helping streamline reviews and actions.
Dispatch Module: Filtering
Dispatchers or technicians can create WO assignments by using improved filtering on work orders, sorting for ETA, emergency, organizational structure, or other data within the dispatch module.
Dispatch Module: Monthly Schedule View
See a monthly picture of a technician’s workload by toggling between current site schedules and work orders assigned. Dispatchers can plan technician schedules on a monthly basis, dragging work orders between calendar days as needed.
AI & Automation
OCR: Invoices and Proposals: Custom Fields
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) functionality uses AI on the backend to interpret image data. This tool automatically populates data from invoices and proposals into Ecotrak, and prompts users to verify inputs before saving records.
AI Insights: Assets and Locations
AI tools can comb through your organization’s Ecotrak data to highlight insights for actioning, such as:
Potentially recoverable asset costs, based on completed WOs covered by the manufacturer warranty
Assets due to renew or replace, with warranty expiration within a certain time period
Assets with failure risk because they have exceeded estimated useful life
Locations with increase in repair spend over last 90 days
Number of locations with repeat asset category issues within 30 days
Locations with multiple unresolved WO issues
Enhancements Under Development for 2026
AI & Automation
AI Troubleshooting
Help your team troubleshoot issues before a work order is created, with an AI-powered chat within a service request or an asset workflow. The tool will pull from your internal troubleshooting processes as well as web content. The chat is interactive, so a user can provide more details and photographs as troubleshooting progresses.
AI troubleshooting can either help users resolve issues themselves, or prompt the team to create more detailed work orders if escalation is still needed.
AI Insights: WO summaries
Quickly review key work order information with an AI-generated summary of status, service history, schedule, spend, and more, pulled from asset comments, repair records, and proposals.
MCP: Ecotrak Connected to AI Interfaces via MCP
With the upcoming Model Context Protocol (MCP) connection, take advantage of adding Ecotrak as an app within AI platforms that you’re already using.
Ecotrak Assist: AI Agent
Complete tasks faster with an AI agent within the Ecotrak platform to help you navigate data and set up records.
AI-Driven Service Provider Directory
This AI-powered tool can help match your service needs with the best vendor possible, ranking Ecotrak vendors as well as global and regional vendors (giving you the option to invite them into Ecotrak). Provide your own input about your organization’s needs, and pull from expanded rating and key metric data shared through the provider directory.
Workflow Enhancements
Dashboard Enhancements
Create a command center for your team with reporting widget tools. Custom charts, map views, and alerts on location level will allow visibility into day-to-day priorities without the user needing to jump into the report module.
Location Dashboard
Location-level dashboards can quickly give a snapshot of an individual facility within a large organization. See local details like weather and location, recent service providers, approval workflow setup, and open WOs.
Preventive Maintenance: Refactor
When viewing PM schedules as a calendar view, you will be able to copy events and choose rules about start date, frequency, and set number of instances or end date (similar to the setup in calendar apps).
Assessment Module: Notifications & Service Requests
During and after an assessment, easily create service requests for assets under review based on what was flagged during the evaluation.
Set up custom control notifications for the assessment module as team members are assigned or complete work.
WO Totals
See quick summary of key counts and totals as you search and filter through work orders, gaining visibility without the need to export data.
Email Response: Add to Comment
Keep comments centralized even when your team is using your native email tools: reply to an Ecotrak work order, invoice, or proposal through email, and the response will be linked to the specific record.
Admin Setup
Roles & Permissions Updates
Improvements to permissions will give better visibility to job title roles within the CMMS.
Rule builder
Streamline work order management with new automation tools, based on custom rules. Set up event triggers, conditions, and actions for specific assets (like “When this A Event happens, If this B Condition happens, Then do this C Action”).
Import Module: Other Modules
In addition to the existing asset import functionality, bulk import will be available for: users, locations, trade assignments, work orders, PMs, service providers, and inventory.
Asset Hierarchy: Parent/Child Assets
Especially relevant for IT teams, improvements to parent and child relationships within our assets module will allow organizations to track components individually within an asset.
Service Provider Rates by Trade & Region
For vendors that support multiple trades across different areas, set up different pricing for specific regions and trades. This information will roll up to invoices, so you can validate specific charges based on location and work being completed.
Technician Management
Time Tracking Improvements
Improved, intuitive workflow for technicians when they track time, whether they are recording drive time or checking in for a work order. In addition, view individual time tracking for multiple technicians active on the same work order.
Dispatch Module: Technician Location Map View
View technician work orders mapped against locations, helping you optimize routing and efficient travel for techs within a region.
Dispatch Module: Overdue
Display overdue work orders within the dispatching module, and take action with drag and drop rescheduling.
Technician Schedules: Recurring Setup
See technicians work hours, location, schedule in calendar view, and their recurring or priority assignments within the technician management module. Use this information to set up recurring tasks or quickly build upcoming schedules.
